Adam Franklin

It’s nearly impossible to mention the name Adam Franklin without simultaneously mentioning the words “Swervedriver” and “shoegaze” all in the same breath.  Sure, Swervedriver was more melodic rock or punk in the vein of The Stooges, Sonic Youth or Dinosaur Jr.- but they were born out of a time and place where their contemporaries were labeled "shoegaze".  So..they were too.

In any case, as singer/guitartist for 90’s UK legends Swervedriver and labelmates with highly influential bands like Ride and My Bloody Valentine on the Creation Records label, Adam has made a lasting mark upon countless new bands trying to build upon the foundations laid during this era. When Swervedriver went on an indefinite hiatus some years back (although they are currently reunited and playing shows!), Adam Franklin has been busy releasing ambient pop and sometimes instrumental tracks under the moniker of Toshack Highway. Today, Adam has decided to put this project on the back burner and return to a more guitar/song driven sound under his own name.

Hi-Speed Soul is proud to have released the debut solo album called Bolts of Melody by one of the most underrated guitarists and vocalists of our time.  Adam’s signature guitar playing and vocals come through strong on the album, while influences from psychedelic heroes Syd Barrett and Arthur Lee, or folk legend Nick Drake, are hinted at throughout. Fans of Adam and Swervedriver have been waiting for a guitar driven record for years. Bolts of Melody is the answer to their prayers!
