About Hi-Speed Soul Records

Hi-Speed Soul is an independent record label, management company, and TV/Film Licensing entity owned and operated by Eric Howarth.  Having been in the industry in one form or another since the mid 90's, whether running record labels, owning records stores, acting as concert promoter, managing bands, or playing in them, Eric has a well rounded level of experience to assist bands.  Based out of San Diego, California, Hi-Speed Soul's aim is to serve as an artist friendly management company/label, where the needs of the artist are first and foremost in any decision.  Whether releases come out through HSS's label and distribution channels or on another label, we work closely with the artists to ensure the right choices are made to further the artists career. 

The idea for Hi-Speed Soul came to life in 2005 during a beer fueled conversation after a Nada Surf show with bassist Daniel Lorca.  They chatted about releasing an out of print EP and then that idea sat for a while.  A couple years later, the new label was born and the name Hi-Speed Soul (a Nada Surf song title) was chosen as the perfect fit.  Nada Surf was the catalyst and their favorite artists like Swervedriver, The Afghan Whigs, The Black Heart Procession, Film School, Three Mile Pilot, Lady Dottie and the Diamonds, Mrs. Magician, Hyena, Adam Franklin, Jim Noir and others have been the result every since.
